Sharm El Sheikh, often referred to locally as the ‘Sharm’ is a sunny resort located on the Sinai Peninsula, in Egypt. This is one of the more popular tourist resorts in Egypt, popular for beach babes, divers and those looking to explore the desert.

Sharm El Sheikh started out its life as a wonderful fishing settlement before being turned in to the tourist mecca that it is today. This was first developed under the control of the Israelis. This amazing strip of land between the beautiful, stunning mountain and the gorgeous sea has been turned in to a resort that is amazingly popular with tourists with it’s modern amenities and wonderfully luxurious hotels.

There is plenty to do when you visit Sharm whether that is travelling to the Old Market to purchase some wonderful hand crafted souvenirs or visiting one of the delicious cafes that are situated here you will be spoilt for choice.

If you want to hire a car then there are plenty of beautiful places to explore with everything available from a belly dancing show at Alf Lela to hiring a private guide and touring the desert, well, part of it, while riding on a camel.

There are some amazing spots for diving here with the reefs of Ras Mohammed and Tiran providing the most amazingly beautiful sites for taking in the local sea life. You will find some wonderful sea creatures here and the plankton here bring in schools of sharks that will just take your breath away. Due to the popularity of these spots you will usually find a vast amount of boats in the area and if this is your preferred method of travel then you will enjoy being here. Another fantastic diving spot is the wreck of the SS Thistlegorm which is regularly packed with divers. This is a stunning place to visit and is a true must see destination.

Another fantastic day out is going horseback riding at the Sofitel Hotel Stables. Here you will be provided with all the kit that you could need including helmets and riding boots. You can travel out, on horseback, to the desert and this is breathtakingly beautiful. Another way to travel out in to the desert is by taking out quad bikes and this is a particular favourite with the men. You can be out for several hours and will usually travel in a group. If travelling out in the desert try and go in the afternoon which allows you to ensure the sunset and the more relaxed feel on your return back, as well as letting you feel the cooler air.

You will have a fantastic time on Sharm El Sheikh and there is plenty to do, whatever your preferred style and budget. The beaches are beautiful and the dive spots here are truly breathtaking. There is something here for everyone and with it’s wonderful weather and luxurious hotels this is the holiday of a lifetime.
